Travelling Europe With Dogs? Easy Peasy!
“In life it is not where you go, but who you travel with.”- Anon
We all know that I bring my dogs everywhere with me, and although some of you might think that is a little crazy, it really is the easiest thing in the world. We have travelled around Ireland, the UK & Western Europe and touch wood have had all positive experiences so far!
It is all in the prep work. Whether you plan to fly or ferry to your next holiday destination, here are my tips for making it all a little easier.
Using none other than Brittany Ferries for another jam packed trip from Ireland to France recently, we boarded the Galicia and were on our way! Cross Channel Ferries to France & Spain - Brittany Ferries (brittany-ferries.ie)
The pet friendly cabins onboard make it so easy to bring the whole family along without the hassle of trying to arrange someone to take care of them. Brittany Ferries leave a fab doggo goodie bag for each cabin & keep the pet walking area immaculately clean. It is so easy, it has become a yearly tradition!
Traveling Abroad with Dogs Tips:

Pack enough food, medications, familiar toys, and bedding for your dog. If bringing your car, don’t forget your seatbelts!
Keep your dog on a leash and a muzzle is required onboard ferries/transiting areas so getting them familiar to this can be a time consuming task but well worth it.
Supervise them in unfamiliar surroundings.
Be prepared for any language barriers when seeking veterinary care abroad. Google translate may be your best friend!
Stay updated on local leash laws and pet etiquette in the destination country. It is common for European beaches to have prohibited times where dogs are allowed on the beach.
Consider pet insurance for unexpected medical expenses while traveling.
Give your dog plenty of breaks, exercise, and attention during the trip. It is their holiday too remember!
