The City Of Dreams....#Paris
“I guess it goes to show that you just never know where life will take you. You search for answers. You wonder what it all means. You stumble, and you soar. And, if you’re lucky, you make it to Paris for a while”
I am drawn to Paris every year .. & every time I visit I have a different experience.
It is so easy to return to the same places, stay in the same hotels, eat the same food, and although some of these things my overlap, I always aim to visit a new area and experience new side of Paris every year.
This time was no different…
What to visit?
Experience the timeless beauty of Paris
See the Eiffel Tower from all the best angles…
From the Metro
Metro Line 9 or 6 for the best views in motion. See the iconic tower rush by you as you cross the River Seine on the way to your stop off point. Most people will tell you to get to the Bir Hakeim bridge for the best access to the tower. If you have some time and intend on spending the morning / evening in the area, - get off at the Trocadero and enjoy the stroll down hill to the tower.
2. From the water
Every hour there is the opportunity to jump on one of the ‘Hop on Hop off’ boats at the base of the Eiffel Tower. These trips will bring you along the iconic Parisian landmarks and is a perfect way to either get off your feet for a little bit, or escape any impending rain forecast! These trips cost between 20 - 30 Euro and are valid for the day. No pre-booking required. We used it in the evening and stayed on to get all the way home !
3. Up close and personal
Cross over the Bir Hakeim bridge and get your entry tickets on site for an up close and personal view of the tower. You an also purchase these in advance here : How to get to the Eiffel Tower: access map, transport, etc. (toureiffel.paris) If you wish to go up the iconic structure and view the city you may, but wouldnt it be better to view the city..and the Eiffel tower all at once? … then get back on that Metro line 6 and head straight for Montparnasse (9 stops).
Also do not forget, if you see the Eiffel tower by day, you will have to see it by night. This can be done by ground or water for the best experiences! Do not forget about the nightly hourly sparkle. once dusk hits, the tower sparkles on the hour every hour for just 5 minutes!
4. Montparnasse
This spectacular viewing tower nestled in the financail district is open nearly all year round. You can purchase ticket on the day but prebooking is advised in busy seasons. Tickets - Tour Montparnasse (tourmontparnasse56.com) Here you will have a 360 degree view of Paris with an indoor viewing deck (in case of rain) and an outdoor viewing deck a few floors up (only accessible by stairs). When you reach the 59th floor, it will be well worth it! Enjoy a coffee or a champagne with some macroons while you bask in the glory of the city of love beneath you.
OK, we get it, the Eiffel Tower is great but what else is there to do?
