The Ring of Kerry
The Ring of Kerry is one of Ireland’s most beautiful driving routes which could take you a weekend, or an entire week. It compromises of a 179 ish Km’s and winds through the historic lands of County Kerry. Whether you are a history buff or just a scenic appreciator there is something for everyone along this journey. Stop off in Killarney town and don’t forget to venture out to Killarney National Park. This was the first National park to be opened in Ireland back when Muckross House Estate was donated to the Free State in 1932. head on down to the Gap of Dunloe taking in the beautiful Torc Waterfall and then onto Stague Fort, one of the largest stone forts in Ireland. If you have a little extra time on your hands and plan your route well, a must do ferry trip over to Valentia island is a must. This island lies off the West coast of Kerry and really is one of Ireland’s best kept secrets. A photographers dream and if you have any interest in water sports, you will be very impressed!
Belfast
Lets jump to the other end of the country and think about Belfast. An easily accessible city with an abundance of accommodation and tourist attractions for a long weekend away. It is easy to explore the city by foot and being the birthplace of the Titanic, it makes for a quite interesting stop. There are plenty of cultural opportunities to explore including many museums, marketplaces, gardens and galleries and Antrim is only an hour away if you want to explore the Giant’s Causeway!
Connemara
It may be wild, it may be windy, but you will never appreciate a hot cup of tea more after a walk through the wilds of Connemara. Embrace your inner explorer and get those hiking shoes on!!
Visit the stunning Connemara National Park, Manor Connemara Ponies, Glengowla Mines, Clifden Castle and the Station House Museum.
